BEAT HOTEL,   7 DAYS MULTI-VENUE IBIZA RESIDENCY

Roaming event brand Beat Hotel returns to Ibiza, for a 7-day residency in partnership with Patron Tequila this September. Taking place across multiple venues, the week-long series promises to channel the original spirit of the island, spanning sunset sessions, club takeovers and intimate parties at off-locations.

26 September – 2 October 2022, Ibiza.
7 days of happenings around the island.

The music programme draws focus on setting and atmosphere over any particular genre, nodding to the Balearic sound whilst welcoming more disparate strains of dance, and several island debutants. Headlining the week, Roisin Murphy brings her unique brand of disco divadom for two performances; an open-air free show and not-to-be-missed 350-cap club PA. Elsewhere, Auntie Flo & Sarathy Korwar, hot off the release of their Shruti Dances LP, present their “dancefloor-focused take on Indian Classical” live. Auntie Flo also checks in as Artist in Residence for the week, DJing and hosting sessions around his sound wellness venture, SWell.

DJ sets punctuate each day, from daytime and sunset through to late night. Acts include South London selector Bradley Zero, rising Chilean talent Paula Tape, Zurich’s curious tastemaker Kalabrese and Correspondant boss Jennifer Cardini. Founder of Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson, Ata, eclectic synth-pop troupe The Pilotwings, Dusseldorf rhythm enthusiast Bufiman and Worldwide FM resident Poly-Ritmo each bring their singular musical minds to the bill. Going deeper, Melbourne’s Tornado Wallace, NTS’ smooth RnB/boogie regular, System Olympia, disco duo Raw Silk and Casablanca’s Malika promise an expansive sonic palette.

Joining the broad-reaching roster of international artists, Ibiza residents lining up include International Feel founder Mark Barrott, island aficionado Phat Phil Cooper, and Pikes residents Camilo Miranda and The Brothers Grim. A special event celebrating the late Balearic pioneer Jose Padilla sees several DJs dig into his collection to weave the ultimate sundown soundtrack. See Notes to Eds for full line up.

The series unfolds at different venues throughout, matched with a shifting tempo to the programming. The week starts at clifftop spot Hostal La Torre then onto Montesol Rooftop overlooking Ibiza town’s marina and historic Dalt Vila. Thursday sees the headline event taking place at Las Dalias (& its club space Akasha) which, as well as hosting weekly hippy markets has, for over 65 years, been a counter-cultural meeting point for islanders and likeminds wanting to connect with Ibiza’s alternative spirit. From there, the long weekend programme offers Beat Hotel guests the chance to start the dance all over, with parties taking place poolside at Las Mimosas, at a private villa residence and the legendary Pikes.

Complementing the music line up, the residency features morning wellbeing sessions and an afternoon talks & workshops programme around culture & creativity. Partners announced include indie publisher White Rabbit Books, culture-travel platform Trippin and wellness collectives Stretch, She’s Lost Control and Cosmic Pineapple.

Culinary collaborations hope to ensure guests stay nourished as well as entertained, and come from Barrafina x Hostal La Torre and Cornerstone x Montesol, with drinks by Patron Tequila.

About Beat Hotel

From a four-day festival in Marrakech to a Balearic retreat in Ibiza, the Beat Hotel welcomes the culturally curious to global get-togethers. The original Beat Hotel was a small, run-down spot in the Latin Quarter of 1950s Paris. Hot water was only available Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, its rooms had windows facing an internal stairwell, and the linen was changed once a month – if you were lucky. The hotel gained fame as the low-rent refuge that became an artistic home for Beat poets like William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso and their many friends, who, freed from the conservative morals of 1950s America, made it a hothouse of creativity. Channeling this original spirit, the Beat goes on, calling howling spirits and curious minds to come together for culture, ideas and moments that matter.

Taking inspiration from its namesake and acting as a welcoming sanctuary for anyone who stumbled inside, The Beat Hotel opened its doors in the fields of Avalon in 2011, with a round-the-clock DJ line-up, an extensive cocktail list and food served by borrowed chefs from some of London’s top restaurants. Returning each year, in 2019 the Beat Hotel closed its Somerset outpost, to continue the journey to Marrakech, then Ibiza and other destinations unknown.
